about

Soul Clap’s latest project, €¢¤ $¥$₸€₼$ is a celebration of the organisms that make up our musical world. Consisting of an EP of new music and a sustainable tour, €¢¤ $¥$₸€₼$ is an exploration of how electronic music can be a force for regeneration. The first single from the EP is ‘Something In My Heart’ - a cover of the overlooked classic by 1980’s West Coast R&B star Michel’le - led by vocalist Ebony Houston.

On 'Something In My Heart' Ebony flexes her soulful and melodic vocal prowess across a fast paced rework of the Michel'le romance anthem which transforms the original tune from "R&B slow jam" to "soulful ballad house". Eli and Charlie bring passion to the dancefloor with lush and sweeping synth pads that recall late 80s keyboard classics. Those moist layers of amorous sounds are percolated by marimbas and a percussive peak time rhythm that is a trademark Soul Clap beat.

Ebony was discovered by Eli and Charlie during their first visit to Tallahassee, Florida to record with George Clinton & Parliament Funkadelic. Her first appearance with Soul Clap was on their 2016 self-titled album where she masterfully led the original EFUNK styled mid-tempo R&B ballad, 'Numb'. Ebony is a member of the New York City dance music group Choosy Lover who also appear on the EcoSystemS EP and will soon be joining Soul Clap Records for future releases.

lyrics

SOMETHING IN MY HEART

You took my love and I'm willing
There's no limit to the love I'm giving
The love I'm giving
Ooh
Oh yeah
There's no reason why we should be apart
Mmmm, Oh baby
Cause searching for something out there
Will lead two lonely hearts, two lonely hearts
(Baby don't you know)
We come too far to let it all end
I've told you over and over again
How I feel inside but if you go
Oh baby, there's something you should know
Something you should know
There's something in my heartmy mind boof
(Something in my heart, something in my heart)
Ooh, has got me hooked on you
(Something in my heart, something in my heart)
Ooh, has got me hooked on you
Baby if we try, thing's will get better
Oh yeah
No one could tell me different
We should be together
The changes I'm going through
You know I'll never be the same
Your love has touched my soul
There's no one else to blame but you
There's something you should know
There's something in my heart
(Something in my heart, something in my heart)
Ooh, has got me hooked on you
Ahh
(Something in my heart, something in my heart)
Ooh, has got me hooked on you
Ahh, yeah
We come too far to let it all end
I've told you over and over again
How I feel inside but if you go
Oh baby, there's something you should know
Something you should know
There's something in my heart
(Something in my heart, something in my heart)
Ooh, has got me hooked on you
Ahh
Ooh, has got me hooked on you
Oh, yes it does
(Something in my heart, something in my heart)
Ooh, has got me hooked on you
Yes it does, why won't you stay?
Ooh, has got me hooked on you
(Something in my heart, something in my heart)
Ooh, has got me hooked on you

Soul Clap Boston, Massachusetts

Before today there was yesterday and after tomorrow is the future. Elyte and Cnyce's paths were crossed for all time when a Sun Ra light beam sent from Saturn collided with the P-Funk Mothership and sent them tumbling to earth. Now, Soul Clap time travels on a musical spaceship of dopeness... ... more
